Gluten free​ flapjacks urgently recalled - because it ISN'T gluten free

It has emerged that a popular flapjack range has been withdrawn by a firm.

Gluten free diners need to be aware of an urgent product recall affecting Birmingham stores this week

 A popular flapjack range has been withdrawn by a firm, it has emerged.


The treats are being taken off shelves because they contain gluten.


The snacks are being recalled by Sogud Ltd as they pose a risk to those suffering from an allergy like coeliac disease.


A gluten-free diet is a diet that strictly excludes gluten, a mixture of proteins found in wheat and related grains.


The products in question are:

Sogud Spicy Oat and Apple Pie Square

Pack size: 42g  Best before: Up to and including September 3, 2019


Juicy Oat and Raspberry Square

Pack size: 42g  Best before: Up to and including September 3, 2019


Fruity Oat and Almond Square

Pack size: 42g  Best before: Up to and including September 3, 2019


The company said: "Customer safety is very important to Sogud, therefore we do regular tests on all our products to ensure they are of the highest quality.


"Sogud has removed from sale the following 3 varieties of its Oat Squares given the presence of gluten being found in some of these products: Spicy Oat & Apple Pie Square, Juicy Oat & Raspberry Square, Fruity Oat & Almond Square.

"Any customer in possession of these products who have a gluten allergy or intolerance, or who wish to exchange these products can return it to the store where a full refund will be given. No other Sugud Products are affected.

"We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused."
